Reece McCall has just joined the Better Lives Partnership Team in Stranraer through the Government’s Kickstart Scheme as their new Assistant Support Worker/Social Media Assistant.
Reece first started at BLP as one of our young people in September 2021 and the team were so impressed with his photography skills and his work on his own YouTube channel, which is currently supported by over 2000 subscribers, that they wanted to find him a position within BLP to help with the Stranraer social media content.
This is Reece’s first job, and he has already proved himself as a valuable member of the team, working closely with the young people documenting their classes, trips, and activities by using his photography and video skills, helping the young people with technical aspects of their work, and supporting our communications officer to show off all aspects of #TeamStranraer on our social media. Reece also works alongside any of our young people (and staff!) who need a hand with technology.
About his new position, Reece says:
“The sheer teamwork and communication at Better Lives has opened my eyes to an entirely new way of working and has allowed me to develop a newfound appreciation for helping younger people and young adults alike. I love what I do here, and I am ever so honoured to be a part of something so wonderful.”
Stranraer’s Team Officer, Karen O’Rourke, says: “Reece has made the transition into the workplace look easy! He is a great asset to Team Stranraer!”
We look forward to seeing Reece develop his skills and the content he produces over his six-month placement.
