This week saw Castle Douglas digging into the Summer Scheme early with their first week of events!
The Castle Douglas team joins the Circus!
On Tuesday we were visited by Martin and Keira from Dougie’s Day and they showed us how to do juggling, plate spinning, and feather balancing.
The Stove is leading the What We Do Now project, which funds the pairing of established artists and emerging artists from across Dumfries and Galloway to empower all involved. Dougie’s Day is part of that project, supported by The Stove Network and the Castle Douglas Development Forum.
Dougie’s Day will be hosting their Circus Party in the Parks across Castle Douglas from Tuesday the 12th of July to Friday the 15th of July. Be sure to check them out if you can!
It was great seeing Keira and Martin and we hope to see them again soon!
Slithery Slippery Snakes come to CD!
The Castle Douglas team were visited by Jake the Ball Python and Blue the Corn Snake. They were very friendly and very inquisitive. It was great seeing them, and for some of us, it even meant conquering some fears!
We hope to see Jake and Blue again someday soon.
BLP in the Multiverse!
On Wednesday, the Better Lives Partnership Castle Douglas team took a trip to the Crawick Multiverse!
The Crawick Multiverse is a sweeping landscape art installation near Sanquhar in Dumfries and Galloway. The art project was started by Charles Jencks and opened in 2015. The Crawick Multiverse uses nine stone landforms in the style of megalithic monuments to represent the ideas of modern cosmology. These nine landforms are; the North-South Path, the Galactic Collisions, the Amphitheatre, the Comet Walk, the Omphalos, the Belvedere & Void, the Multiverse, the Supercluster of Galaxies, and the Andromeda and the Milky Way.
What a great first week for the Summer Scheme!
